Launching a New Product in the Midst of a Pandemic

Published on 4 May 2020

This company does very little marketing. No proper public relations, no press releases, no mass emails of any kind. There is only this website and blog, and none of the other posts on here address current events. But now we are launching a new software product, in the midst of a global pandemic.

As I write this, around the world, people are in lockdown, or at least strongly advised to stay at home. In Germany, where we are located, things have been looking up a little for the past two weeks or so, and smaller stores are gradually being reopened, as well as schools for some students. But this is very likely still only the beginning of a longer period of time during which life will be very different for all of us. And things are changing so quickly, who knows what next week will look like, or tomorrow, for that matter.

I am thankful to be at home with my family, who all are in good health. I am thankful to be in an industry where I can work from home, and which is not as affected by this crisis as so many others. I am thankful that my biggest challenge right now is having to homeschool my kids. My heart goes out to everyone who is not so lucky.

So why are we launching a software product now? The thing is, we have been working on this tool, which is called i18n Translation Manager for SAP® Fiori, for the past eight months. We are very proud of it. The solution is now being piloted by our customers, and we know more companies could use it. So it makes little sense to delay the launch any further.

If you want to learn more about the i18n Translation Manager for SAP Fiori, here it is. You can also read this blog post.

But much more importantly, stay healthy. We’ll get through this.
